Simple solutions for soil mapping and the world’s first smart, natural sounding artificial voicebox are just 2 of the 8 Australian businesses to share in $3.9 million of vital grant funding from the Entrepreneurs’ Programme.
The program’s Accelerating Commercialisation service has been supporting businesses since 2014. In that time, more than $270 million has been awarded through 551 grants. The highly competitive grant process puts each project through an independent, merit based assessment for the chance to be awarded up to $1 million in matched funding, meaning the business must contribute an equal amount to the project.
The Entrepreneurs’ Programme is lending its unique support service to expedite the development lifecycle of a wide range of novel ideas and get them to market.
Data Farming, from Toowoomba, QLD, is revolutionising mainstream farming and agronomy with their Rapid-EM system. Used to map soil variation across multiple agricultural industries including rice, cotton, grains and horticulture, Rapid-EM also has environmental compliance applications. Based on a complex piece of equipment called an electro-magnetic sensor, Rapid-EM has simplified this technology by making it fully automatic, scalable and easy to use for every day farmers and agronomists. Data Farming will use their $322,753 in funding to commercialise and scale the Rapid-EM system, deploying 6 machines nationally and 2 in South America, with an online booking system and data displayed in the DataFarming platform.
We also have Laronix with their world-first, and only, smart natural-sounding artificial voicebox. Laronix created their global-leading product by developing a specialised, voice cloning technology to synthesise ultra-realistic natural voices using artificial intelligence computer algorithms. They will be using their $551,100 in funding to showcase their technology with key opinion leaders in Australia and the US, gain national and global product adoptions and position their company for future capital raising.

Curtin University are increasing efficiency in production for the oil and gas, pharmaceutical and chemical processing industries. $209,485 will allow them to commercialise their product and achieve commercial sales, which can increase energy efficiency across many chemical processing industries.
Curvecrete have created a robotic mould that can produce bespoke curved concrete panels, making production of concrete panels, simpler, faster and with zero waste. $325,158 will help them establish a pilot manufacturing facility and complete a demo project using their curved concrete panels.
Locii(truuth) has developed world-leading multi-biometric authentication service to provide the highest possible level of confidence in high risk authentication, called biopass. $992,203 will be used to help truuth commercialise biopass through a global ‘as-a-service’ platform that delivers significant improvements to the security posture of enterprises that adopt their multi-factor authentication to reduce avenues for fraud.
Metrolo will be helping all the players in the energy system navigate the transition to a decentralised and decarbonised future with Gridcognition, a powerful, self-service software to analyse, simulate, optimise and manage distributed energy projects. $998,783 will help Metrolo to achieve finalisation of Gridcognition for Australian and priority target markets, executing subscription agreements in Australian and export markets, and generating first commercial revenues.
Odio Tech has developed an innovative digital therapeutic solution to support tinnitus sufferers, called Tinnibot. $163,690 will be used to run a commercial product trial with engaged industry partners to complete product development before launching to a wider market.
SmartOysters are improving the quality, price and farm productivity for aquaculture farmers by digitally capturing their unique practices with their mobile map-based farm operations app. $398,350 will be used to help SmartOysters to develop their app into a globally scalable, common platform capable of supporting a wide range of aquaculture sectors.
